Proverbs 16:32 ~ He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
Titus 1:6-7 ~ if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination. For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,
James 1:19 ~ So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Self Control is a must have character quality. It is to be valued more than strength or being able to conquer. It is necessary for anyone who wants to seek a position of leadership and it is commanded by God. Today this quality is not exercised very often. But it is probably one of the greatest qualities one can seek. Without being able to control the will we are bound to stumble more frequently, dive into sin much deeper, and neglect communion with God often. We must conquer the will so that when we seek other character qualities we can control our hearts and channel them towards Godliness.
Application
1. Pray that God would give you self control in every aspect of your life.
2. Before temptation comes resolve to obey God.
3. Each day begin in communion with God and commit every action to Godliness.
